What is Slavery?

Types of Slavery

Forced Labor 

            - Debt Peonage: A  person bonds themselves to a master to pay off a debt. 

            - Penal Labor: A person performs labor as a form of punishment. 

            - Wage Slavery: A person's livelihood is totally/ immediately dependent on wages. 

            - Serfdom: A person works a plot of land for their lord in return for living on it.

            - Indentured Servitude: A person signs a contract to work for a fixed time. 

Sexual Slavery 

            : A person forced to perform sexual acts against their free will.  

Domestic Servitude 

           : A person forced to perform domestic duties.

Ancient Greece    800 BC - 146 BC    33% of the population enslaved
